Since I was little I have always loved the game of tennis. I was an athlete for the majority of my life and I played almost every sport possible but for some reason I never played this one. It was always just something I did for fun! I always watched the U.S. Open thinking, it would be so amazing to be able to sit in those stands watching those matches! Well that’s exactly what I got the chance to do! I actually didn’t plan it at all but sometimes that’s where the best experiences come from! I literally found out it was happening when I was there and I bought my ticket and went the next day!
On the subway on my way to the matches, I met this very nice couple that were also on their way there. What began our conversation was them talking in english about how they liked my shoes. So like anyone would do I replied with a thank you! They were in shock I understood and explained they thought I was a foreigner so thats why they didn’t just tell me. So we laughed it off and found out we were going to the same place. They were die hard fans so they took me under there wing as a newbie and let me go along with them! Its such an awesome experience meeting strangers and then ending up hanging out with them and becoming friends but never seeing them again after that day!
Walking into the Arthur Ashe Stadium was so breathtaking. I had such a fun day full of tennis! It was an incredible experience watching all those talented athletes in such a historic stadium. I watched Roger Federer win his matches, unfortunately he didn’t end up winning the championship. Winning in the end or not, he is very talented and it was a great set of matches to see!
Fun facts:
> Arthur Ashe Stadium is the largest tennis only stadium in the world!
> The stadium was used for the first time in 1997 for the U.S. Open and Whitney Houston performed!
> Honey Deuce is the official drink of the U.S. Open (of course I had to try it then)... Cheers to who ever is going to try the recipe below!
Honey Deuce Ingredients:
> 1.25 parts Grey Goose Vodka
> Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
> .5 part Chambord or raspberry liqueur
> Crushed Ice
> Honeydew melons for garnish
Wander on..never stop wandering!
