Snorkeling in the Caribbean

What an experience snorkeling in the Caribbean, seeing the beautiful coral reef. The water was so clear I could just look down and see what I was stepping on! It was already so beautiful looking at the water from above so I knew it could only get better underneath!

We went with one of the locals on his boat to a couple of different locations to check out the amazing corals! It's definitely something that is not possible to into words; you just have to go check out the photos! The first spot we stopped was very wavy but it had some awesome fishes, shells and corals, sometimes so close to the surface of the water we had to be careful not to touch it as it can be very sharp and cut our skin. Which of course I learned the hard way from the coral around the dock at the island, I was trying to crawl up onto the dock and smacked into it from a big wave...ouch! Some people buy souvenirs, I would like to think I earned mine!

The second place we snorkeled was so calm and the coral was a little deeper. It was like we were in a huge pool because the water is so clear and it was so deep but we could still see perfectly to the oceans floor. Also the fish, lobsters and other creatures were so pretty and different.

All fun games and jokes until we swam into a wave of jellyfish...ahhh!! I felt something touching my body and when I looked under and around me to see what it was I found out that I was swimming into a ton of little jellyfish. I remained calm and came up from the water and asked our guide if that was really what I thought, really hoping I was wrong! Well, ended up I was right, so, with wishful thinking I asked if they could sting us?! He told me they wouldn’t and that it was fine! “Just keep swimming” he said!!

Let me add that the island locals were very hard to understand because their accent! I relied on the translated answer from the person traveling with me. At first I didn't believe them! But what was I going to do in the middle of the ocean? The boat was far away and I'm already in the middle of these things!

Ends up we didn't get stung and I found later that both of us couldn't understand our local guide. So we had no idea if we were going to get stung or not! Just the typical adventures or misadventures of traveling in foreign countries and always trying to translate!

My words don't do this snorkeling trip justice, so check out the photo tab to see what it really looked like!

Wander on…never stop wandering!
